Abstract

While static analysis identifies malware based on its binary representation, dynamic analysis tries to detect hostile code by monitoring its behavior in terms of network activity or of its interaction with the host system. The talk introduces Machine-Learning based techniques for dynamic malware detection, highlighting the problem of behavior representation and monitoring. A case study on android malware is discussed as a proof-of-concept.
